 Driving Phobic!
okay every since I was 15 and I took the seminal drivers ed. I've been deathly afraid of driving. the very first time the drivers ed teacher pulled over and told me to drive. I got out of the car looked at him and took off running.  I caught the bus home and really pissed off my mom. needless to say I got a zero for that day. I passed the written 100 percent but failed every practice drive. my mom took me out once and it was from 3500 s. onto bangerter to 6200 s. and I was shaking so bad and my knuckles were red. I hated driving my drivers ed teacher would be like GODDAMMIT DURAN WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? and it just made me a nervous wreck not to mention that during the practice courses I had to drive a black car with leather interiors (it was during a very hot summer) and my strongest memories of that week was burning flesh. but back to the point of the story...
needless to say I haven't driven or dared drive since that fateful summer. and have been deathly afraid of doing so. until yesterday. I got an interview with bestbuy corporate and went to their main office building in utah for a lucrative job possistion. there were six people there all higher ups and they liked my compy technical prowess and wanted to hire me on for a regional position where I help with the technical issues all around the country but specialising in utah. and I wanted it because the pay is 16.00 for 3 months then gets bumped upto 25.00 an hour after that. but the only catch is that I have to get a drivers license. which of course brings me to my dilemma. I hate driving. but to get the job that may help me get a decent career and help support my family, I'm going to stand up to the fear and laugh. (I convinced the bosses that I would work myself to death to get a license and surprisingly they said ok.) they actually said that they like my resume and my abilities so much (I was really shocked but oh well I must do some things right?) so that they would wait for me get this done so that I could take the position. I WILL OVERCOME MY GREATEST FEAR AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!!! for my family for myself and the mountain of cash that will come with it. well wish me luck and I will let y'all know what is up in the coming weeks god bless and good night.

You're driving teacher isn't very motivating. Can you request for a different one? If not, then find a friend and practice practice practice so that when you drive together with your instructor, you'll pass right away and the sooner you can get rid of him.

You can do this, you have the motivation you need to overcome your fear, and that is the new job, congratulations, you are a star for getting it. Have you not thought about changing your thoughts on driving, if you continue to see it as a constant source of fear, or something bad, then you will continue to hate it, why not think about it as it is, driving gives you freedom, with a license you can go anywhere you wish to, you are going to be based in a rural environment, so just think about the amazing sites, sounds and things you will see, and how much time you are going to save doing that by driving. You clearly are a smart, intelligent person, perhaps if you really want, you can turn this fear around and make it the most amazing and positive expeirence, I know you are going to get through this, and in all honesty, I would not be surprised if you find it easier then you think.

my first driving experience my dad took me driving and yelled the whole way, then big sis tried to help and i almost wrecked her car, attempt 3,took drivers lesson spents 100 for each two hour session,on the third a day before my scheduled exam the instructor informed me that i should keep my money and practice with a fam or friend cause she does not feel that i should take there car on the road test or be on the road at all, about a month later everything just clicked and i stopped being so afraid and got a lscence.i was a mess thinking i will never ever learn ,but i did and you will definitly do it,just think of all the brain dead idiots on the road, lol, hope you write an update

I used to teach people how to drive a School Bus.
Let me know, I have helped many people obtain a CDL..
