| A letter to a fallen soldier. |
|
Dear Uncle Jesse,
It's weird, calling you my uncle and all, after all, you are only 27.
How is everything up there? How is God? How is Granddaddy? and baby Haley?
Everything down here isn't so great down here, it's just hard to accept that you aren't in Afghanistan anymore, but instead right up the road, six feet under.
You didn't deserve to die. You know that, right? You know that we wish you were here. You deserved to be able to see your baby girl for the first time (the most beautiful baby, by the way) and see how big Jesse Jay is growing.
They dedicated Cave Spring's football game to you, and this Saturday Virginia Tech is going to honor you at the Miami game.
I get so mad, I can't see straight. Out of all people to die, why did you have to? You were the best person that I knew. I wish I could've died to take your place, you know that, right? You would have at least had the chance to watch your kid grow up.
It's too bad that people mock fallen soldiers like you, they don't realize people like you volunteer so people like them don't have to be drafted.
I love you with all my heart and soul. I hope I die so I can see you soon.
I love you,
Zo-buggy
