Like  Rush Limbaugh has pointed out, "I want Obama's policies to fail."  Therefore, do not get the wrong idea.  I am not writing this blog in hopes that Obama will improve his annoying speech pattern, but rather that you, the reader, will become more observant of how Obama's speech has changed from when he was campaigning to a completely different, irritating pattern.  He is difficult to listen to.  I am not speaking about the content of what he is saying.....but rather how he is saying it.  This is actually a nonverbal in communication theory. The correct word is called paralanguage.  It refers to tone of voice, inflection, and rate of speech. 

Since being elected president, the duration of time that Obama spends on the syllables he utters has become shorter and shorter.   He clips his words off....sending the words in an annoying downward inflection.  Duration in voice and diction studies is defined as:  "how much time you spend within the syllables that you utter."  If a person cuts the length of time too short within a word, it can signal to the listerner many emotions that perhaps the sender does not intend to convey.  One of the emotions associated with a shortened duration is anger.  Lack of patience, and arrogance can also be conveyed with shorter duration.  I hear all of these things in Obama's speech.  His speech pattern is most unpleasant.  I will not trust a person who talks in this manner.  It is abrupt, irritating, uncaring, demanding and dictatorial.

Psychologists have taught for years that our personalities are primarily revealed through our speaking voices.  This has not changed over the years.  The pattern of speech that I am hearing with Obama is telling me that his personality is in itself:  controlling, demanding, authoritative, condescending, and arrogant....with tinges of anger hidden beneath a full blown egotistical, self indulgent personality.

I realize that one small part of his pattern of speech is his black dialect.  However, I have heard and spoken with many black people whose speech is completely devoid of the characteristics I hear in Obama's speech.  Many of the blacks I have been associated with do not clip their words too short, but speak with a lengthened duration of time on the speech syllables.  I hear kindness and trust in their voices.

It was reported in the news, earlier this fall,  that one lady decided to throw her T.V. out of her house because she was sick and tired of Obama's appearances on television.   In addition to his socialist/marxist policies, I believe that people are unconsciously responding to his repetitive, negative speech pattern  with distain.

If a person delivers speech in a particular manner just once, I do not think much about it.  However, when I hear a certain pattern repeated habitually....then I begin to question the irascible pattern and thus this leads me to the syndrome analysis.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I simply do not listen to Obama.....period!  If I hear him by accident on the T.V. or radio....I walk out of the room, mute the sound, or simply turn this vexing speech pattern OFF!
