I had an odd dream last night. I know this is poorly written, but I recorded it quickly.
------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------
“Remember, class,” I remember my teacher, Mrs. Lawrence, had said, “Tomorrow is zombie survival day. Get ready for the experience of your lives.” She wasn’t wrong.
We walked into Mrs. Lawrence’s classroom and sat in our school desks. “This is base camp,” Mrs. Lawrence announced, “The rules are simple. You get from here to the lunch shack, where you will have lunch, then back to base camp.” We all nodded our heads in approval; it seemed simple enough. “But it’s called zombie survival for a reason, so watch for zombies. There are supplies around the eighth grade teacher’s rooms, which you may use. Good luck.” She said with an evil grin.
People began to partner up. I chose Sami. Quickly, we grabbed what we assumed we needed. This part I don’t remember well. I remember a pack of gum with a hologram on the front. The hologram could be used to distract the zombies.
Sami and I entered Ms. Jacob’s completely destroyed room. “Wow, she’s making this intense, already.” Sami had said. I remember simply nodding and continuing to grab more supplies as Mrs. Lawrence had watched the both of us. She then began typing on her laptop.
“Quiet.” I whispered to Sami as we stealthily walked along the hallway. No one was in sight. The scene then changed.
I was in a shopping mall. I ran down the down escalator and starting walking carefully, positioned to attack. So far, this was far too easy. I kept a look out for people who looked suspicious. (The zombie’s were not actually zombies, just people hired to play the parts of zombies. This way, you had to be on extra alert.) Then I saw Marie over by the water fountain. A woman was creepily coming behind her, Kristen, and Cristina.
“Guys!” I shouted after I had ran back up the up escalator. They all turned their heads, including the zombie. The zombie woman began racing up the up escalator as I began running down the other escalator. “Whoops,” The zombie had said, “I dropped my cell phone, I’ll just go get that.” With all the speed I could muster, I ran down the escalator just in time. The zombie woman was about three feet behind my friends and now me. Not awesome, but better than being in it’s clutches. I still had no idea what the zombies did with the people they had caught.
We all ran until we came up Katie, who looked ready for anything, but terrified at the same time. She joined our group. The zombie woman was no longer in sight. The scene changed again.
We were now in a field for our gym class. I remember standing there, in my gym clothes, looking at the archery targets while my teachers asked what running exercise we wanted to do. Somehow, I ended up standing next to Mrs. Reedy. I turned down the volume on her iPod and read something on her cell phone for her.
The scene changed, yet once again, to a small shack. It was the six of us. Katie, Kristen, Cristina, another girl, the chaperone, and myself. We attempted to small talk during lunch. The reality had sunk in. We were the last ones left. That meant that they would try extra hard to get us.
“You can start heading to base camp, soon.” The chaperone had said. No one said a word. A few minutes later, we were all out of the shack. We looked down the street to our left to see a crowd of people; zombies. We took the other direction and began to run. It was only a matter of time before they spotted us.
A boy about twelve with curly blonde hair and blue eyes ran behind me and started shouting. “They are continuing!” He shouted over and over again in the direction of the zombies. Within an instant, we had all crossed over to the grassy sidewalk that had a fence and woods. The crowd of zombies started coming towards us.
I don’t know what had happened, but the group, other than Cristina and I had disappeared. I grabbed the fence and started walking quickly along the fence. It may have seemed stupid to do so, for it sure slowed me down, but it was the only way I could walk without falling.
“Prepare for an attack from the woods!” Cristina exclaimed as she drove by me on a quad. Thinking the same thing, I let go of the fence and took off with all my might. Good thing, too, the zombies had finally caught up to us.
Cristina had me hop on her quad. We drove until we saw the group we had been with earlier. She stopped. There they were, all lined up to face the street. “Weird.” Cristina and I said at the same time as we joined them.
A few minutes later, a blue car drove in down the street. It stopped in front of us. A tall, blonde, skinny woman, in a blue dress and heals to match, stepped out of the car. “Hello,” She said, “You have passed zombie survival.” Everyone cheered but Cristina and me. We both knew it was a trick. This wasn’t base camp.
As soon as we had shot each other looks saying to run, the woman sat in a puddle in the middle of the street. Cristina and I ran. We ran until we had reached base camp.
Mrs. Lawrence helped us sit down. We were both breathing heavily, and we were both exhausted. “Congratulations. You have passed zombie survival skills.” Mrs. Lawrence had said.
That’s all I remember.
