 21 Day Meditation Challenge
Hi!  Welcome to my blog and the 21 day Meditation Challenge.
The benefits of Meditation are well documented.  I have read enough books about it and decided the only way to truly know the benefits (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) are to do it myself.  I have tried in the past and always gotten distracted.  I guess I thought meditation should be fun!  The more I have read and talked to people who do it it is not really so much fun as it feels good when you are done.  OK I can handle that - this time I am ready.  21 days = 3 weeks.  If I haven't felt anything positive by that time I can say I gave it a good shot but not for me at this time.  So I am hoping some other people out there want to try with me.  I guess I just don't really like doing things by myself.  Yet I can't get to a class everyday so I am doing the next best thing.  I will hold myself accountable here by recording what I do and any changes. And I am hoping there are others who want to record what they are doing and the benefits (or lack) that they are receiving.
You don't have to be new to meditation you just have to be willing to try for 21 days and give us some feedback.

Things you might want to know:
  • I am using Dr. Dharma Singh Khalsa's book Meditation as Medicine as my basis for the meditations, chants and poses.  He, of course, argues his meditation is the best but whatever form you want to use I would encourage you to use.  I believe there are lots of paths to the same place.
  • Some of the benefits I want are- to feel calmer, more relaxed, more confident and at peace.  I believe that in order to achieve those goals I need to meditate in the beginning of my day.  Dr. Khalsa, among others, argue that you should meditate before the sun rises so sometime between 4 am and 6 am.  I am not sure at this point I am ready to go that extreme but I will do it first thing in the morning as I believe it starts your day off different and the effects might be easier to feel during the day.
  • My goal is 30 minutes each day.  But I am willing to be gentle with myself and on some days I get interrupted and only get 20 minutes I am going to count that.  Other days I hope to do more.
Tomorrow it begins.  I hope you decide to join me and keep me updated on your thoughts and progress.

Sincerely,
Wendy Koebel
