What a crazy White Tanks race yesterday! I was pretty fit but I had some horrible luck. It started off well enough,
I had a good position and was feeling pretty good...legs felt strong and lungs were not burning. Halfway into the
first lap I lost ALL my water bottles, not water, so I had to stop and beg for water..fortunately a guy had crashed
and said his race was over so he gave me his water bottle (with somebody supporting me I could have gotten water
from them..oh well maybe soon). YEAH! But it was just one bottle so it was going to still be a tough race. I made
up some serious time and got ahead of the guy I was targeting and was flying!! Damn the next lap in the technical
section I took my eye of the course for a sec and went down HARD!! When I arose out of the dust and got my bearings
I saw that I was scraped a bit but my handlebars were tweaked sideways...ha ha but like any biker in the midst of a
race I immediately grabbed the bars with the wheel between my legs jerked them back straight. I was still shaken
but I hopped back on my bike and sprinted off...it took me back till the start/finish before I got my head straight,
but then I flew up the front part of the course and caught my target guy again!!! I knew if I could beat or stay
with him I would be at least mid pack. I was hot on his tail and just about to pass him and fly off when...
UNBELIEVABLY..I got a FLAT!!! Could I have any worse luck?!?!?! Well I fixed the flat and got back going and
finished...Ha I actually ended up 26th out of 31...actually after all the bad luck I beat 5 GUYS!! But you know
what? I did not feel bad because I felt fit and if I can get my mechanical stuff worked out,the next race I think
I can compete with the top guys (Estrella March 1, right beside PIR). I am going to keep riding and training.
Heck that is all I have to do anymore!! No women right now, they take up a lot of energy and time. No worries
though I will soon be back in the game :).
