| Taxes |
First, let's start this off by saying that I would love to pay $100k in income taxes per year. With all of the loopholes and tax breaks, the actual income needed to pay $100k would be sweet, indeed. But, let's think about taxes, in general.
I work and earn $1.00. On that $1 earned, I pay 25 cents income tax. Additionally, my employer must pay 25 cents payroll tax. I take my $1 down to the corner store and buy a light bulb. On this $1 light bulb, I pay an additional 6 cents sales tax. The store owner takes my $1 and pays his stock associate, for another 25 cents payroll and 25 cents income tax. So, at this point, that $1 has changed hands 3 times and the government has collected $1 and 6 cents. Now, think about how much money is changing hands and earning taxes on a daily basis. And they want more.
I recently read another bloggers post on some of the amazingly stupid things that the "Elected Government" has been spending money on. It's nothing new, these types of frivolous expenditures have been happening for many years, for many different reasons. And they will keep on going until someone gets the gumption to say "enough is enough". But of course that person will have to be in a position to actually be able to do something about it. Maybe we can get someone from Washington to actually publicize the bill to buy 15 executive jets for the pentagon that they say they will not need and will never use before it is voted on.
Anyway, I guess I wouldn't mind paying taxes if they could actually account for and justify even 75% of what they already take and waste on a yearly basis.
We separated from England due to "taxation without representation". I truly believe that if our elected officials were truly representing us, they probably wouldn't vote for some crap that most of their constituents would want to smack them for.
