| The 5th Day |
|
The mother looks on as her two bundles of joy lay sleeping in their new room. She knows sooner or later she will have to split them up into different rooms because she is sure they will want that. But, for now, she can enjoy seeing both of them in the same room, right next to each other. The father holds his wife and sighs. He can't believe it either. They tried so hard for so long. Now they finally have them. They were only hoping for one and was blessed with two. How lucky they are. The mother closes the door to let them sleep; they memory of seeing them still vivid in her mind. How can I be so lucky? she thinks. A great husband, a great home, a great family, and now these two small, priceless, lives. She thinks about all of the other women out there who struggle to have their own. She is a doctor. She sees it everyday. She sees the longing on their faces when she would walk into the room when she was pregnant and the tears come to their eyes when she announced it was twins. The mother remembers being in their shoes once. She delivered so many healthy, beautiful babies, and it made her want one so much. She almost lost her best friend to childbrith. She miraculously survived only to have her taken anyway some years later by sadists. How she misses her. Wishes she could be here to see her two precious babies and see her own two growing up. She also had twins. What a coincidence.
