WARNING: This one is red hot
OK, remember, before you read anymore, I warned you that many of you will not like this one at all...some may stop reading me after this...the subject is abortion

Taking away all the moral stuff, when does life start, all that....even though I could argue all of them very well from the Pro-Life side.  I have one point that is very legal based and stays away from all those hot button as much as possible.

Two men get tow women preganant:
Couple A the man wants this baby, may even be very deeply Pro-Life and says he will support the woman and her child.  Buy them a house, a car, pay for all medical expenses, college, private school, a nanny, the works...but the woman says she wants an abortion.  He says he will take the baby, even pay the woman for her time while and energy for the 9 months.  But she says no, and kills the baby, and he gets no say.
He has no rights
Couple B the woman lied and said she was on the pill, punctured the condum and got pregnant knowing the guy had money or hoping the man will marry her
(and yes I am painting an evil piture of the woman and I know most women are not like this, just making a point).  He wants noting to do with the child and he of course still must pay child support.  And that is perfectly correct as it is his baby.
He has the responsibility for the baby.

Ok, so explain how a man gets all the responsibility and none of the rights.  And yes I know it is the woman's body that carries the child, but the child is still as much his as it is her's...as much as that makes the child sound like a thing and not a person I could think of no other way to say that.

I am arguing from fairness

I have thought this particular scenerio over alot...I think it is wrong that the father has no say, if he wants to raise the child why not? But then what if the guy raped the girl and wants the baby? Is it fair to make her carry it? What if he abused her, and she fears he will do the same, should she be legally obligated to keep it? It's sad to think about, but I don't know that there is any really good answer to this problem...it isn't fair, and my heart bleeds for men who get caught, it happens, I know...but how legally do you seperate the good from the bad?

Listen, I agree, there are evil people on all ends of any situation in life. I have a whole arguement about the criminal act causing the preg. part that basically boils to why punish the child for the dad's crimes...but I can get the emotional toll that making a woman carry that baby would cause so I am not 100 percent sold on it. That is why I tried to stay w/ a very legal angle. bUt like any angle in this issue, it can not stay legal and that is also understandable

This is just one of those carousel issures, I don't think there is a solution, not one that is fair to all parties involved...
