 Set ups
Ok, we need a ruling:
A few posts back I told the story that my son is going thru some hard times due to an ugly rumor.
At a time that he is looking to go to his prom, he thought he had a date but that girl is the rumor issue,  he is being seen as the next school threat. ...anyway....
I suggested that maybe I try to get his cousins who are in his age range to ask around, as two of them are girls and might have friends.

KP thinks this is making a bad situation worse as it will get around that this is a set up and he will be mocked...I think that he will gain confidence, get a date, have some fun and maybe meet a great girl.
I am not saying the cousins go with him, just that they fish the waters in their schools in the area for hungry fish that might be willing to take a chance on a cute, great kid that needs some help due to a bad break.

Ok so, ladies, men, any comments?

No comment, just a wish.
I hope the lad does go to the prom with a nice young lady and has the time of his life.
The high school prom is one of the very special times we always remember in later life.

kids have ways of finding out things. i tried not to butt in and usually things worked out. u do what u think but if it were my child (went through this 4 times) i'd let him work it out. good luck to u and him.

Listen to KP, and lastblast, on this one. Hard as it may be to restrain yourself from trying to help, let him work through this. If it doesn't work out that gets a date, plan a "mandatory" family trip that overlaps with prom night - - at least then you're the fall guy for his not being able to attend.
Hopefully things will work out and he'll go -- but if not, it's not a tragedy and will be completely forgotten by him eventually. Good luck.
