Saturday Part 2: baseball and whine
So we start for the city, not a bad ride, a few good talks, we get the
PATH station in NJ(for those who do not know, it is like a subway).
We park and head in

Boys will be boys: Had one of those times I could never seeing having
with my dad. He is a great guy but I never saw him as a sexual being.
Now all the kids he had that look like him proves he was but he never
would have done this...
My wife fell to sleep on the train and my son and I were treated to this
slender 20ish girl dancing to her Ipod. I joked I hoped it was not an
audio book she was moving like that to.
Then I saw two other 20-something ladies so I asked my 18 yr old son if
any were his type. He picked not the “best looking” but the cutest.
Maybe I am having an influence as she was the most my type too.
And I am glad he and I got that moment so that later when he made me
so hurt it hurt bad I could reflect on this. But more on that part later

So we get to the city, I get a shave and I have to tell any man that is not
doing this yet, go once. It is the shave our grandfather’s got in the
barber chair. It my new small addiction. Wait maybe that is the habit
that is holding me back??? *laugh*

We then eat lunch and the only real funny thing there is that while I eat,
while I am there thinking about all that happened this week and what
may be my future I start to hear some song I heard a commercial that I
have no idea who sings it or what it is called, all I know is the line about
having a “dirty little secret”
KP, my dirty little secret

Take me the right way to the ball game: I knew the next stop was
Yankee Stadium. First, ladies, men do not like to get to a game on time.
They like to be early and soak it all in. They want to go to this or that
stand or bar or souvenir store. On time is a little late.
Also they have a great cheesesteak stand in the Stadium and I think all
you Philly people need to train the New Yorkers how to order them. It
makes the move so much faster and almost adds to the experience. You
do not hem and haw and say I will have cheese and some onions!
You say Cheese steak, type of cheese and either the word “wth” or
“without”(onions) That is it!
If I got that wrong and some Philly person can correct me, tell me. I get
a smile when I order that way and usually get asked where I grew up.
Thing is I can find most places in NYC, and would be lost in Philly.
But I listen when taught something and someone taught me that way to
order was the way to do it right, so I do.
I knew this was the next stop as Yankee Stadium as my wife slipped
and told me while telling a work story last week, It happens, And as this
was paid for by my son I played along. I played along despite being
steps from the subway that we always take to Yankee Stadium and
being pulled blocks and blocks our of our way because my son wanted
me to not know where we were going till we got there.
Wait, all those guys in Yankee jackets and shirts were not a tip off?
So we get there
Alright soap box time: I do not like the idea of a new Yankee Stadium
Yankee Stadium is the building they are in now. It is built on the
ground that Ruth, Gehrig , Dimaggio Mantle, Munson, Mattingly and
Jeter played on. It is not next door.
The new one looks nice, it will be fine, it will not be the same.
I will miss my Yankee Stadium
*stepping off the box*
Good game, but they lost.
And one little funny thing is that I needed to really be sly to buy Kris
and her kid’s gifts while there. Got the kids, not her, wife was too close
by that time.
Saturday in the Park with a whiner: So on the way back I take the
wheel a bit
We get off the subway at a stop near Central Park.
It was great.
Everyone was out
Look one way and see a young couple kissing, look another and see
people rowing on the lake, look another and see a guy reading a girl a
poem from a book while he dips his bare feet into the lake. Look one
way and see people playing frisbee, another see an old couple holding
hands as they walk in the park, another and see what looked like a
couple being married. Look over there and see kids hanging off a statue
of Alice in Wonderland and having a ball, Look over there and see a
man in a wheel chair being wheeled by his nurse and smiling at it all.
I loved it
The wife was just taking it in and saying little. I was waxing poetic that
there are really 5 great cities in the world, 5 “world capitals” and New
York is one. My son is whining. The walk is too long, the trails wind
too much, we are lost, why do we need to do this? How long will this
take?
I was ready to almost just cry at how all this beauty, all this life, all this
typical NY in Spring was right there and this kid is wishing he had his
PSP so he could listen to his music!!!
And if all works out, by this time next year I may be taking that walk
with two kids that have ages that do not add up to 18.
I am too cold! I need to go the bathroom! I want ice cream! My feet hurt!
Mommy carry me! I want to climb on the statue in my nice clothes you
want me to keep clean as we are going out to a fancy dinner!
Kids are expected to do that. I know that if I am signing up to have kids
younger than 10 n my life that is part of the bargain and I am ready.
When you get a son to 18 you think you are past this!
But whining I can take, insulting hurt on my birthday...or anyday...is
another.
More later

Oh and forgot one other funny part:
At the game a baby started to cry in our section. One man told him don't worry we will score soon and another bunch started a "Lets go baby" chant.LOL
