When I was young my mother warned me many times about not falling in love with being in love and making sure you actually love the person
Irony is I may have done that
And I think the country may be doing it in 2008
What does Barack Obama stand for?
Why is he better, worse than Hillary or John or Mike or Mitt?
If you can answer that with answers that are about what he stands for, and not attacks on the others, but substance about him, then this post is not about you.
But the thing is I wonder how many people really can answer that quiz I just gave?
How many people in these cheering crowds know enough about him to really make an intellegent choice? And save me the internet rumors, I am not talking about them, I mean does this man stand for anything that warrants all this or is this a combination of many factors:
1)He is living potential history-he gets nominated and he looks like no one else that ever has been nominated by a major party. That is exciting even to me who would never vote for him.
2)He is young and vibrant and full of energy.
3)He reminds us of men of that past that we have made into almost gods-he is JFK, RFK, MLK all rolled into one
4) It is fun to be part of a movement-I admit that it was a kick to know that I was part of the Reagan Revolution and Obama is almost risen to religious revival meeting level when he goes out.

But so did Huey Long when he ran for President and looking back he would have been a dictator had he won
5)Excitement is a cold, it is easy to catch
6) He is a perfect vessel for every dream we have. He can stand for nothing, we will color in our own beliefs betweeen the lines of his persona
Listen, he may be a great man that will do great things if he wins
He may be just what the country needs
All I am saying is that I wonder if this is not a cult of personality that when it is the world wanting to make Princess Di a saint, and I mean that seriously, there was such a movement...it is just annoying...
But when it is driving a man to the office of President it is dangerous
Maybe we need to slow down and make sure we know enough before we choose him, not that the choice that side of the ilse is all that great between him and Hillary as far as I am concerned
Lets not make a man President because he fits the suit
