| Men, we need to stop laughing |

When we were younger, my brother loved to go out and tip back a few.
He did it at a bar that was maybe a mile so so from my parent's home. It was out onto a highway. over an overpass and then down a suburban street. Takes maybe 5 minutes with no traffic door to door.
I am not a drinker, I have a rare beer and even rarer mixed drink.
So I very rarely was in the car with him.
We would all joke that the car knew the way, it drove itself home or God looks out for dumb Irishmen or something like that.
My wife's longest relationship before me was a live in boyfriend that loved to drink.
She would often say she was amazed to see him passed out on the bed, drunk still the next morning, car in the drive not a scratch.
Again the funny jokes about the car knowing the way and God looking out for drunks.
We need to stop laughing
While I think that maybe MADD is a bit too harsh at times and would probably make any drinking at all, even if it was one beer three hours ago, and driving a crime. Maybe a zero tolerence might be good.
I will admit I would be in jail had that been in place on a day as recent as Saturday, I had one bourbon and coke at 7 and drove at 11 and another on a stop on the way home and I knew I was fine to drive even at my very low tolernce for alcohol given that I do not drink.
But if you could not drink and drive, no matter what you drank & when in the last 24 hours a woman that seems to have been a shining light in this world would be alive.
I know in reality this is not a possible solution, but maybe a few less people thinking I am OK to drive would mean a few more people standing over graves of loved ones.
Maybe not only friend, but everyone, even enemies, need to not let people drive drunk.
And men, we all know we do it more and laugh at it more.
We need to stop
