This may seem like I am nit picking but....
Yesterday I was in church, and saw this little girl walk in with her dad. The young girl might have been 10 years old at the most and had a nice pink coat and knee socks and a dress fitting the fact she was in in church. The father walked in wearing a ratty old jacket, and a t-shirt.
Now I can hear the people reaing this saying that maybe that was the best this guy had, and if that is the case then OK. However, even if this was a money issue, I can understand the coat...but the father could not put on a button down shirt? He does not own one collared shirt? Or maybe even a t-shirt, other than white, that had a no writing on the front?
I do not have a daughter and would love to have had one. As I have said before, sons eventually "rebel" in some way, large or small, from their dads. That is just how life works. I have a top notch father, I could not have asked for better, but as life has gone on I have pushed away in small areas. Sons usually stay close to mom...daughters to dad.
But more to the point of this, girls learn what a man is from their dad and I do not think it is alot to ask that you make sure you set that good example.
The little girl obviously saw it as important to get dressed nice for Mass, the father could have respected that a bit more and maybe made her feel even more special by dressing in something more than a t-shirt and jeans |

Maybe the guy has money issues and could not afford nice clothes for himself because he wants to make sure his daughter looks the best she can???

As I said, I am not saying a suit, I just mean a shirt that could have passed as something better.

Hafta agree with you on this, even if im more spiritual than religious. I go to church with my friends and though I literally have NO money, I am still able to find something suitable, ya know? Very good point.

well I have a hard time with clothes because I am semi-poor. and I would rather spend the 20 dollars so my daughter can wear a dress (she loves them so!) and I love seeing my pretty princess all dressed up and my son looking handsome is also very important to me. so I only get a new shirt every 6 months or so and I usually go to the DI too. but yeah that's my pov. I don't know if that's what this guy is going through but I can understand your pov (looking good for my kids is important also but I am willing to not look so good though.)

Amen. Father went without so that his precious daughter could look beautiful for Mass. The fact that he was in Church is enough for me and with his daughter is even more wonderful.

You should go to church to worship the LORD not to judge what other people are wearing. No where in the bible does it specify how a person should dress for church. It is people like you that stop many from going to church. I have heard many people say that they can't go to church because they don't have the right clothes. Well the church I go to you can wear what you want. The LORD is first there not what people are wearing!!

OK OK I give, maybe I was wrong. It just was that I thought that he could have looked a bit better for little money, but if the overwhelming majority feels I am wrong, I give.
