I wish the bride had been allowed to rock and roll
This may either be along post or the start of a few that come from one event....
I have a lot of Ralph Kramden in me
I am a big mouth that lets that mouth get him in trouble.
I am not best person to be in a relationship w/ but I do love the people I love with all I have.
But the part of me that I am talking about here, the part that shows my "inner Ralph" is that I always have ideas that will make me money.  One of these was my idea of being a wedding photographer for less.  I really saw myself as the replacement for the little disposable cameras so you get all the casual shots that the foraml guys miss.  What I end up being is the guy you hire on a budget when you do not need the glossy pictures as I do it all with the same cameras that you use, simple point and shoot models, but I take picture after picture so I get alot of shots and so I am worth the price.
Well today I had a job.
It was a last minute schedule. This was the job I took after NQRW said to and then she asked me why I did...
So as the week went on I spoke to the bride and the groom and they seemed nice.  I was right...they were.

But more on them and the wedding in a minute....

Something hit me while I was taking pictures at the ceremony, that even though my marriage is most likely ending soon I still think this works. I still believe in love.  I still think that people get married and stay married.  I hear the words about together forever and love making it work and I smile....but in contrast NQRW does not.
We have more than once ran into a couple taking wedding pistures in a park or in NYC and she will always tell me she wants to warn the woman.  I almost had to stop her from really doing it once.  Maybe because I am a romantic or because I was the one that moved away from the marriage and broke those vows, but I still do think when you meet HER or HIM it can be forever....

Ok back to the wedding

I walk in the door to the church and groom is there.  Unlike the other weddings I had done where I spend the pre-ceremony with the bride, this one I was with the guys.  I did not even know she was in the building till someone told me two minutes before the ceremony.
Nice guy but he was dressed like a Chicago mobster from the '40's was cool style.  Then why dress your groomsmen like they are in a bad country band? Bolo ties, boots, hats, the works...and no one could give me a straight answer
And I have been lucky to never get a bridezilla, all great ladies, but this one was a real anti-bridezilla.  She was asking me if it was ok if they moved over or went next to a tree or whatever...till I finally reminded her it was her day.  She seemed stunned that it was...

Then came the pictures outside where I became DR DWIGHT with wedding advice,,,yes the man heading for divorce has wedding advice: Men are like dogs...
What do I mean?  Well the groom was a romantic guy.  He wanted to kiss his wife like in some movie, leaned back and deep in his arms...I said I liked this guy... Well she looked less than thrilled.  I told her that if she likes the romance, and she said she loved it, that if she does not give him the response, the biscut, he expects when he does it, he will stop the "romantic" tricks.
She laughed
He said thanks
They will last I think...

Now I have done alot of weddings:
I have done weddings on the beach, in a lodge, a Mormon wedding that I could not take pictures of the ceremony, and one wedding in a bed and breakfast...but this one was new
What are the staples of most wedding you go to..?
Champagne toasts?  This one had no alcohol so no bubbly toast
The first dance? The dance of the bride with her dad? the chicken dance? right????? Well they had NO dancing
Yes folks, 110 people and not a bit of dancing....You come in, the couple walks in, you eat, you leave...
Now according to what I was told was it was a religious thing... maybe easy to Say can send her friend over as I was looking for Kevin Bacon in Footloose to break in dancing at any second...LOL

Overall was a fun assignment even if I had to work to find what to take pictures of with no dancing and no booze.  I mean while she may not have been the most traditional bride, I will never forget the bride I have in my portfolio that had a contest with her dad.  They had a drinking race where they put the bottle in their mouths and tipped the head back and guzzled with no hands !!! They made my job easy, they had a moment like that one 100 times that night !
Only so mant pictures you can take of Aunt Madge.

As I said before, I see these couples and think that some might not make it, but I know that some will and I guess even if they don't, at least the constant words about love and forever and the like help me stay believing in love...

and if nothing else I am closer to getting some poloponies(sorry anyone that does not watch The Honeymooners will not get that)
