Ok I need to know the public opinion on this, and before I say what it is, I know I sound crazy but.....
This morning I was listening to the news and heard that they are improving EZ Pass so that it will now record you plate #, and bill you if you do not have it.
OK, if they want to put this in the lanes that have EZ Pass I will say OK, but leave one lane for me,
Mr. Money.
Why?
Because I have never liked the idea that someone can see where I have been, at what time, etc. I hate that the goverment is going to know that at 12:15 on March 7, 2007 I was at Exit 6 of the NJ Turnpike.
I thought we were about freedom in the US and now I guess we are not !
I am all for increased security at bridges and tunnels and railroads and airports, etc. However I doubt this is about that. This is two things, someone has the contract for this and knows someone in power and two I do see it as a way to track movement.
I know, I am paranoid,or am I?
Recently a man was given a ticket for speding because he went from point A to Point B in a time that when calculated he neded to have gone 80 MPH.
Another was charged extra because his rental had some chip in it that if you broke the speed limit you were charged extra fees to the tune of I think 2 grand!
Another man had his EZ Pass records used in a divorce case.
This is downright Orwellian!
Does anyone agree or am I really ready for the rubber room?

But on the other side of the coin it could be helpful too. Here is a story where a person was going to be charge with some crime that was done, and they denied ever doing it. The courts said prove it, so they were able to show the "E tag" account proving that, A)They were driving at the time, B) that they weren't even in the same suburb as the crime, C) it wasn't them so the case was thrown out and they weren't going to have to spend years in jail.
Unfortunatly you are fighting this too hard, it will happen and there will not be much you are going to be able to do about it. I think they call is "progress". Whether we like it or not.
P.S. Wasn't there the same reaction to something with a screen and a keyboard and comunicating with other people in different places many years ago. If I recall correctly I think they ended up calling it the computer or something like that.

No need for the rubber room. These types of documentations are good and sometimes they are not. It just depends on how you look at the situation.
