I have no idea if this is something other countires are plagued by but it drives me nuts!
It comes in two forms but it is the same thing.
Why do companies, mostly car companies need to explain that we should not try what we see on the ad?
First of all many times it is not possible to do many of the things I see in ads, my car can not drive up the side of a building and then on the ledge using two of four tires.
Second, I can't see why someone would not know by simple common sense not to do some of these things. I am not rolling out of my car at about 20 miles an hour and letting it smash into other cars for any kind of burger, sorry Burger King.
I know some idiot might try some of these things but someone that dumb is not really someone that should be around any way. That is proof of Darwin's theory.
The other part of this that makes me mad is when I watch the ad, usually again for cars, and NOTHING dangerous happens in the ad. But I see "Professional driver. Do not attempt."
Attempt what?
To drive through a puddle or in the snow or on a road or in the desert or in the city? I once watched an ad 6 times just to see what they did I should not attempt and all I can figure is that I am paying $23,000 MSRP for the car to sit in my driveway.
I once read a story that a group of lawyers were watching a football game one Sunday and heard an ad. It made their ears perk up with the wording and they wrote down the ad's words and figured that the ad in theory was offering the car for nothing. So they took the company to court and all got a brand new free car.
I wonder if one day someone will bring a car intop for some warranty service and a smart service manager will claim that the ad did say not to attempt to drive so they are not liable for the repair as the owner broke the warranty.
This all seems like a further example of the babying of us all by goverment and companies
