I was watching TV last nite and I was reminded of something I think is a symptom and a cause, both at the same time, of many problems in the way families are today.
Watch any comedy that has a family: The Simpsons, Two and Half Men(not really a family but there is a dad), According to Jim, etc.
Then watch the ads during TV shows
What do you see?
You see that in today's society men/fathers are seen as dopey bufoons and the mother is the smart one.
Even a show like King of Queens, the guy is the dope. Yes she has issues but he is a UPS driver with no education while she works for law firms in a high rise.
But that is just TV and it is supposed to be funny, right? Don't take it that hard, it is just TV.....
But wait, look at music
In a few months in the US we will have Mothers and Fathers Day, I understand from this cute Aussie I talk to that Fathers Day there is much later in the year, anyway...

Dad has Cats in the Cradle, a song that makes the best dad in the world question himself when he hears it
I think that our kids hear this stuff, see this and see Dad is not as good as Mom. And as we guys get older we think that this is what we are supposed to be, vs the men that women are looking for. Even look at the two holidays, what do we do for Mothers Day vs Fathers Day.
Just a thought
If he is still around go hug Dad today
