When I was in high school I saw this movie w/ Chevy Chase & Goldie Hawn "Foul Play"
The movie is forgettable
The theme song though I found slightly profound, and that is tough given that it is Barry Manilow.
There is line in the song " My life goes along as it should, It's all very nice, but not very good."
I think that means that while life without chances is safe and easy and uncomplicated, but it slowly rots the soul as you learn nothing. You have no big tests that you pass or fail or that destroy you for a bit so you can rebuild. You never lose, so you never win!
Saw a comercial for the new George Carlin HBO special last night and he was ranting about that in todays America we do not let kids hear YOU LOST, as now everyone get a trophy and no one keeps score in kid's sports and that is nice for the moment but does nothing to help the kid in the long term. Same point

I bring this up as much as it is about my wife as it is about America as a country and how we are seen in the world.
I read a blog today about how the right in America may stop at nothing to stop Hillary or Barak from becoming President, even to the point of killing them. The blogger went on to allude to the fact that in America we have a history of killing our leaders and that maybe it was not always lone nuts that did it.
While I will remind people that English history is full of death of leaders, kings killing their wives, all that...as is mosy all European history...but lets leave that alone.
What I think is more important is that I think that the take-a-chance, anyone-can-make-it attitude may tend to breed more mental illness as not everyone is built to keep up, and failure breeds it also. But it also breeds great moves forward, like the thing I am using now. Some nerd in Washington State started a company in his garage and now BOOM everyone has a home computer, and laptops and internet ready cellphones.
But just today on this computer I read about the latest unversity shooting which bothered me in that he was a great kid, with a bright future that people looked up to and not down at, like they normally are in these cases. Amkes it seem more random than ever!
But we could have a boring society, that goes along as it should, one Prime Minister leads to another, to another and had it not been for his ex-wife's actions I could not even name the one Canadian Prime Minister I can name.
Goes aong as it should, all very nice, not very good

Then there is my wife
The same sweatshirt every night
Watching TV
And work, the hot house that she claimed she would plant the confidence plant that one day she would plant in our marriage's front yard I guess lost power and the that plant died in the coldness of safety
Or did she decide that plant was just to risky to feed and nurture

Like I named this, confidence is sexy
Sexy in terms of people wanting to come and live and invest in a country
Sexy in terms of what men like in women and women in men.

Yes you may lose your job
Yes you may breed nuts that kill famous men(PS, for the record, many people who were not liberal leaders have been killed by lone nuts in the US)
But you may achieve things you never knew you could, you may wake up one day the rishest man in the world, you may save the world(as a nation)from a number of pwer hungry mad men and become a super power, you may find out you can suceed where you thought there was certain failure and gain MORE confidence
