All you LOSTIES that did not see the finale, maybe wait to read this
For those who are not into LOST this may make sense, maybe not
And anyone who watched GOOD MORNING AMERICA and can tell me the other two endings they showed PLEASE!!!!! I TIVOED the thing and almost screamed when I saw the ad that said they had other endings you could only see there.
This is not a new way of looking at how the show/life but maybe it just hit me
I have spent too long in my life being Jack and not enough being John Locke
Jack is the responsible, smart, dutiful one. His life is logic. On an island that makes the lame walk, the dead live, the sick cured he never saw it. He had but one mindset, one thought. He had to get everyone off the island.
He did not care what the smoke monster was.
He did not care why a tropical island had a polar bear on it.
He did not care about any of that.
He had a mission and he had to see it thru.
He never even met Jacob or his spokesman....boy that would have been a hell of a meeting!
John saw the island as magic. Maybe he had a head start as he could suddenly walk once he got there despite his crushed spine.
He saw the magic
He wanted to know that secrets
He saw that leaving was the last thing they needed to do once he saw that the island was not a pile of rocks where the plane happened to crash on the way back from Australia (PS.... No, that lil tid bit of pure irony has never been lost on me when I look for meaning in the show for me)
Locke knows the island is a place wher miracles happen.
Now we see that John stayed. We have no idea what happened but something did as he is off the island too. But he did look happy in that casket.
And we see that Jack is miserable.
But he got off the island? He did he duty. He is home. He got Kate home. Hell he even got Kate w/ no Sawyer in site, he should be dancing!!!! Why is he sad?
Because he realized too late that John had chosen the better path, he was "chosen" by the island for a reason. The island needed him. It seems it needs them all !
But he needed to watch the island go away before it hit him, and even then it took a long time.
Now it is just a crazy TV show and I should not base my life on it, but maybe I see that my island chose me, it told me it needed me, it said stay and live in the magical place and who knows what could happen. But now I had a duty, so I said no.
Now I get on planes and fly hoping the island will have me back. Maybe it will
Or maybe my lesson is better seen in Desmond
Desmond gave up hope and in that despair he lived a life of boredom
But chance stepped in, love never died and he has his Penny
And boy was that one hell of a hello kiss!!!!
Or maybe it is just a show...
