An Andy Rooney/pet peeve moment here
I have never been a gum chewer, I hate the stuff, so maybe I am biased, but when did it become OK to chew gum at work when you work in a professional office?
My company can not even agree to enforce a dress code that is not able to be summed up in the words "Use your common sense.", so a gum chewing policy is like asking for the moon.
But when someone comes into my office to ask a question and is chewing gum I feel like I am talking to some truck stop diner waitress that just about completed the 9th grade with 12 kids and a husband that drinks and never works, and not a college educated professional.
Is this just me or does this bother other people too?

Ha ha, I tried to put up a fight against kids chewing gum in my class and decided I have bigger battles. But yes, it is annoying!!

I never thought about it but, yes, that would probably annoy me. Especially if someone was blowing bubbles. If someone does, pop it in her face. If she isn't chewing Hubba Bubba, it will stick and might teach her a lesson! (I think Hubba Bubba is the non-stick one.) Like you, I am not a fan of chewing gum - gives me a headache after the first 2 minutes.

I think it depends on how people chew gum. Some are really rude and open mouthed.

This is something that really, really annoys me too!!!! Personally, i am not into chewing gums. Doesnt it hurt their jaws chewing so much? just the thought is gross.

I agree with prelude2it. It depends on how the person is chewing it.
