this is funny in a weird way. how does brewing coffee give her a headache? sounds a little....hmmmm. anyway, yes, i completely agree! it's gone too far! if you offend someone, you must roll over, but if someone offends you, you must...roll over.

I personally don't feel you are being insensitive. I see where you are coming from, and I agree.
I can also see the co-workers complaint as legitimate if the person is truly getting headaches from brewing coffee.
If this person is sincere..maybe a middle ground could be reached? I see that a few options were offered, but none that really worked out well for all...perhaps something like coffee on certain days of the week?
It kinda sounds like this person might just be trying to be difficult tho..if that is the case, I say take an office vote, and majority rules. =)
Just a thought...

Bravo! I think you have hit it right on the head, my friend. The "I" generation has done a vast harm to our society. Yes, we must all care for ourselves, stand up for ourselves, etc., when necessary. But when the "I" becomes the omnipotent force, we all lose. When "I" never stops to think about "all of us" we stop treating each other with love and respect. I am with you on this one!

Here is my take...I HATE the smell of coffee, can't stand it, however, I am only me. The person that lives under me makes coffee every morning, but I don't ask him to stop. I go to mothers, and she has coffee brewing always....I continue to go there. The co-worker has to get past it. She is being selfish by taking the right to drink whatever the others want aways. I am sure she doesnt want people to start to complain because the tuna sandwich stinks, or her apple smelling hairspray.....and lets go there for a second.....the deodarant that she uses smells like baby powder and just hits my nose wrong. Get over it lady, you are not the only person in the world. Majority rules...isn't that democracy?

See I am completely able to see that sometimes the majority needs to let the minority have a few concessions, or it becomes tyranny by the majority. However, I think that too much lately we need to see that we live in a world w/ others.
