 Interpertation
I'm not sure where the signals were crossed, but I'm not that.  The meaning that I got from the poem was that we should come together despite the challenges that we all have faced in life.  We have come far as a race, but we cannot stop when matters such as the State of the Black Union continues to persist in America.  As a whole we are responsible for the positive and negative.  If we do not help others in achieving their full potential, then we are basically creating a cycle left to be repeated.  I can guarantee this to be true.  I have met so many people who have not been given the blessing of their Father, or who do not know their Father.  The issue is heart breaking because they have so many questions to be answered.  A friend of mines named Marquis never met his Father although his brother and sister knew their father.  Although, he was a father, he still had many questions as to his father.  I remember the statement always used by my friend "I will never do to my children what what my father did to me" meaning the absence of a father.  My father was like a father to him in helping him with the questions of life.  It's the blessing of a Father, this was never given to him and the pain was present, but hidden away.  Also, another friend Jason, whose parents divorced at a young age and was raised by his mother and grandparents.  My parents would encourage and inform them they could accomplish anything they put their mind to.  The absence of a father during the life, and at critical points causes long lasting challenges.  I cannot say for all, but for many I have met this causes much searching, unfulfillment, and questions in life.  I pray for all who are without fathers; I pray God gives them peace, promise, and purpose in life; therefore, generational struggles are broken.  The struggles, that, if are not broken will continue to affect them the rest of their life.  The struggles take many forms, fatherlesness, self consciouness, relationships, and many others.  I have learned to be thankful, give thanks, and try to help others whenever I can.  We become bruised and battered in life, and many are still searching for the blessing.  I thank you for listening and I ask all to continue to pray for my family and I.  I have respect for those who have lived this life without the knowing or presence of a father, upmost.  I know the challenges, they are all to real.  With encouragement and assistance they can be overcome.

Personally, I have found that the absence of a father emotionally is just as damaging as a physically absent father. You have to look to your Heavenly Father and he will fill any void that you may have from an absentee earthly father.
