View Blog    India Ok, so I go through phases. Like I used to be very interested in Spanish and Latin American culture, I loved the bands Hanson and Aerosmith and I was recently obsessed with Tudor and Elizabethan England. Now it's about India. Of course I still like all the things I mentioned above, but they're not my main "focus" now. I have friends from India and of  Indian descent. I enjoy Indian food and love their clothing. I recently read a book called "Imaginary Men" by Anajali Banerjee. It is a wonederful and quick read. it is about an Indian woman living in America and she travels back to India for her sister's wedding. At the wedding, her aunt tries to fix her up with men. She makes up a fiance to get out of these dates. It's a very funny book and a look at Indian culture from a somewhat superficial side of course. While in college I took a course about Religion in India. I enjoyed learning about the diverse religions in India - there is also a strong Christian community there! Which brings me to... Compassion! They of course have programs in India. I can sponsor a child there and learn more about Indian culture! Yay! I am currently sponsoring a girl in Peru and cannot sponsor another child at this time, but when she is out of the program as a successful adult that she will become! I will sponsor another child. I hope to have my own children soon and want to get them involved in Compassion also. We can sponsor a child as a family. I imagine my kids drawing pictures and writing letters to the child in India! I can't wait! Well, it's going to be a crazy weekend! I might go see an Indian movie and I am taking my fiance to his favorite restaurant on Sat. for a belated Valentine's day gift. Sunday my fiance, Justin, and I are going to go house hunting again! It's been a few weeks. We've found stuff we've liked but we were outbid or didn't make our move fast enough...hopefully we'll have something soon. I'll try to write again early next week. Post comments!!
