This is written from my teacher Clear Atkins, is talking about what is Second Life and how is going on education with this.
She left 3 question to me.
1. What is this about?
2. Do you believe what it says?
3. Why do you believe (or not) what it says?
Now is my answer:
1. I think this academic paper is about a introduction of Second Life, and what relation with online education.
2. I believe what it says, but i don't agree
3. In my opinion SL just like a online game, everybody got there were looking for something that is they are feeling interesting, ofcasue It has no rules systems, no points to score, no dragons to kill or ranks to achieve, but this is not finaly define of game, alot of online games are not only this thing, you can just talking on that or make your character dance or singing doing anything on there, but only one thing you couldn't done that is the system can't let you did. example: can you just doing something like put your head under your hand? I dont think so, so that is rules.
You dont have to make all this thing on SL, but it has a similar thing with online games, that is all people spend much time on there to doing some happy stuff and funny things, online game is building on internet to supply other people communicate or make funny things. but they didn't realize SL is a unture world, everybody hiding their real name and station, so they dont have to taken responsibility with anything them done.
Also, any internet world have to spend too much time, so everybody who is stay long on there, they won't thinking about why i would do that? they will felling this world is better than real world, they will deviate from the real world finaly.
So about the SL eduction i thought that is not very good, beacuse communicate is an importent thing on teaching. so do studying, how can get a well learning without communicate and writing on blackboard for everyone?
When teacher doing teach thing, they have to be observed every students' face, to thinking about how many thing them got, teacher using writing and action to give expression to their knowledge, teaching is not only talking and listening. how many people would like learning from a display? i dont think i do.
