We all agree software management is a mighty task considering the unforeseen dynamics involved in achieving the project deadlines. Who does this job anyways? Stop ! dont run for google.com, this is an oppurtunity I take to introduce star of this post - "Project managers" (Lead actor). I have worked with quite a few renowned software services company and never really understood most of these "Project Managers". Sharing the limelight here with Project managers is their partner in crime "Asst. Project Managers" (Supporting actor or 'Managers in the making'). Ok so now since the stage is set let me share the script.

Earlier I was working on a project in which a meeting was scheduled to resolve the additional work issue. Just before the client joined the call, me and my project manager got over the call to discuss the details. After knowing the details he said "We are not going to this additional work come what may". Act II, client joins the call and discussion started. At the end of the call project manager said to the client "I think we all are on the same page". I wondered "What page are we on?". The issue still remained. The statement let loose the client and project manager off the hook and I was the one to figure out what needs to be done. A complete waste of an hour!!

Though I laughed off the incident with my friends but this is the sad state of management choking the machinery in most of the services company. Probably there must be some inane satisfaction derived in vomiting useless management jargons and at the end of the day add no value personally or to the company whatsoever? Handful of managers are happy to be devoid of this satisfaction and take pride in their contribution; as far as rest are concerned they are on "The same page" !!
