We made it home safely. Oh boy there is much work to be done around here, so I instinctively sit down at the computer and try desperately to put it out of my mind! LOL. Part of me wants to cry about it, but the other part says 'Get your bum in gear and do what needs to be done.' Right now I will drink my tea and try not to get angry. The laundry room floor is covered with comforters and clothes - a fairly easy fix. In searching under the sofa in order to stop the dog from whining and scratching at it, I found nearly a box of used tissues under there. Not too difficult to clean up. Every bathroom needs to be cleaned. Every surface needs dusting. Everything needs to be vacuumed. Dishes need to be done. All the washcloths need laundering. The houseplants were nearly dead. That is only the tip of the iceberg. I must compile a list. Hey, at least the frig is mostly cleaned out as it is practically empty! The part I am most worried about is balancing the checkbooks! UGH! My husband did manage to wash the sheets for the bed (along with a pen that leaked all over an old top sheet). So at least our bedding was freshly laundered.
I kind of miss being at my sister's as she is the organizing queen. She has always had the priviledge of running her own household the way she sees fit, but takes into consideration her husband's expectations of tidiness and dinner by a certain time. I will admit I have been much more lax in those areas as it has been rough in terms of what time to have dinner as the hour changes with his schedule. Perhaps I just need my own wife or mommy around here. I should have married a gay man or Martha Stewart.
My dog was so excited to see me as was my daughter! Husband walked in sporting new facial hair and hollering at son about not putting something away. I held my tongue (for a short time). I said, "Is that all you could come up with after not seeing your son for a month?" "I was joking.", he replied. Fair enough as long as he gave him a big hug and an 'I missed you.' or 'Welcome home.'
I did not even go near the bedroom to see the kitties until bed time. That was fun. The little critters almost doubled in size and were wanting to eat my shoes! My top had a lace with a little metal thingy on the end that one of the kitties found so intriguing. He batted at it for awhile. They even seemed to remember me. They slept quietly on the bed for most of the night and I was grateful for that. I slept in this morning while they frolicked all over the bed, jumping off and on, tumbling all over each other. It is good to be home. LOL
