 Who Sets the Thermostat?
Do I believe in global climate change? Absolutely. Earth's climate has been changing for as long as there has been an Earth. Throughout this planet's history, change has been the only thing constant about its state. Why should it stop now?

Do I believe human activity is causing the current change in Earth's temperature? I honestly don't know. I do believe that Earth's temperature was changing long before we humans were here. Obviously, we weren't causing that change, so it seems reasonable to say that it is possible we humans aren't the cause of this change.

Is human activity contributing to our planet's current temperature change? Possibly. Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that human activity is contributing to earth's temperature change, and therefore by altering our lifestyles, we can reverse the change. My question is... Who sets the thermostat? If by altering our behavior, we can alter Earth's temperature, what temperature do we want it to be? Should it be what it was 50 years ago, 150 years ago, 1,500 years ago, or 150,000,000 years ago. We have been told by the prophet Al Gore and his disciples that Earth has a fever. For humans, normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. What is it for Earth? At what temperature can we say Earth is no longer feverish? Who determines what that number is, and what criteria will they use to determine that number? Who sets the thermostat?

It seems like a reasonable question to me.

By the way, recently published data shows that Earth's temperature has actually cooled in the last eleven years. Does that mean we should all buy a Hummer and leave it idling in the driveway when we aren't driving it?

That is a very reasonable question. It parallels the question, Who is the final authority? We are seeing evidence of influences within the solar system that dwarf man's activities. A metteor passed within 45,000 miles of Earth. It was big enough to duplicate the Tunguska blast of 1908. On Oct. 8th, a meteor exploded over Indonesia. We should never forget the meteors that crashed into Jupiter. On Aug. 15th, the rings of Saturn shifted orbital axis by 92.4 degrees. There are reports of dangerous radiation reaching the surface in the South Pacific. A large object is approaching, exerting influence on the angular momentum of the solar system. The electromagnetic effects are increasing. We are going to see very strange events in the near future.

Good points, George. Sometimes I think we humans give ourselves way too much credit. We are really so small.

Very well expressed.
