| The Religious Right is Wrong |
|
I want to start by saying that I am not against religion in any way shape or form. If you what to practice religion I say more power to you.
I was raised a Roman Catholic and very strict. I’m happy in the thought that I believe in God but not religion now days. I’ve grown tired of men distorting what the true mean of God is, LOVE & FREEDOM TO BE. I’m not like the hippies of the 60’s and I’m not someone who thinks all we need is love and turn the other cheek.
I’ve heard on the news that the religious right feels that religion in American is under attack. So they’re feeling what I have felt for years as a gay man in America. I seen where the Right said it was an attack on God and the church when two gay men kissed on the steps of a church but not when a man an women did. Actually it’s an affirmation to God of the love these two human beings share.
They say God is under attack every day in America from the Left. Now I consider myself to being the middle, very much in the middle. The think about say the pledge and the God part, which was stupid. If you don’t want to say the pledge, DON’T, but don’t stop everyone else from saying it. If you don’t want to say ‘one nation under God’ then say ‘one nation under the sky’ I don’t care just don’t say I’m not aloud to say it.
The Religious Right has had its way with this country for years with Bush in the white house. It’s time that they get put in their place.
Freedom of religion, speech, and press; right to assemble and petition. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. [Proposed by Congress in 1789 and ratified by the necessary number of states in 1791]
The Religious Right has to learn one thing when they took up the political flag they became a target like everyone else that does this. Religious beliefs use to be a privet thing that was kept out of politics and now it’s trying to run politics. I personally think that any religious organization that steps into politics should loose their tax-exempt status.
It’s funny that the Religious Right has that same taste in its mouth that many of us have had in the gay community when we get told you can’t do that because……..
I want to get married/civil union and have the rights of everyone else. I don’t want a religious ceremony, so Religious Right people you have nothing to say about it. I just want the right to say this is my husband and I want to be about to walk down any street in America kiss the man I love the same and you kiss the man or women you love. And without some bible thumper trying to hit me upside the head with the so-called word of God.
