it's the end of an era
Every weekend for the past two years I've walked down Bourke Street at 8:45 and asked myself why the hell I am awake on such a cold Saturday morning. This weekend I walked down Bourke Street and my heart sank at the thought that I would never ever have to wake up this early and see this morning beauty ever again. The city IS beautiful in the morning. I like the calm before the crowds ruin it. I like to see the sun reflecting off the shiny pavement and I like to hear the few vehicles running around at that time of morning. Of course I'll go to the city again and maybe I'll even live there, but I'll never see it again with that sort of naivety. My heart will never sing in the afternoon and I'll never enjoy the freedom of being a child let loose in Melbourne ever again.
