 bean ear

Yesterday morning, I drove to my plant in countryside, to prepare goods for my consumer. When I got out of my car, I found a row of bean beside the road. What a familiar sight!
My childlike innocence suddenly wake up! I looked at my watch, there were still hale an hour left! I decide to find them! To me, it is a piece of cake now. I pick off tow soon. The third one is too small. I left him in his place.
Do you know what I picked off and what is his name?
In Chinese, we call them “dou4-er3-duo1”. I don’t know their English name. I’d like to call them “bean-ear”.
Dad and I were often in a competition, see who could find more bean-ears. Dad won more! He told me it need patience and chariness. And there is a tip: the south side absorb more sunshine, and have more bean-ear as well. I still remember his words yet. How time flies!
The memory made me warm in this a little cold spring morning.
However I felt a little sad at the same time.
For my village will be removed. A modern community will be in place of it. I don’t know if there will be a place for me and my child to play the game----who can find more bean-ear.
Good bye! My white-wall-black-tile house.
Good bye! My god-given bean-ear!

The memories of you and your father playing the bean-ear games is what is important, and you children will have fond memories also, but maybe of a different game.

I am sorry that they are going to change your childhood village.
You and your child could plant some bean ears in your back yard,
couldn't you?
I really like how I can hear your accent through your writing.
You have a nice handle on English, I understood you very well.
Thank you so much for the friend request, I am honored.
Peace to you.

It happens all over the world unless you live somewhere very very historic to the world. Villages here in England are bulldozed and awfull persimmon style homes are built ...... So uniformed and sterile they are hidious ...... Oh dear .....

I know how you feel when they tear down those buildings. It makes you think about the past and all of the wonderful times you had. Sometimes it is hard to face change, but atleast you have such great memories. Pretty photo, Thanks for sharing. :)

What a beautiful story. I don't know what we call them in English either, I've never seen a plant like that. What's nice about your English is that it has a very poetic quality to it, I especially love the last 2 lines. It reminds me in a way of the book "The House on Mango Street."
