I went down to the base today to pick a new job, so I need to go back to tech school. My dates are PROBABLY going to be the end of July to the beginning of August, which works out perfectly. My summer class ends at the end of June, so I'll have almost a whole month with no military or school obligations before I head back down to Mississippi. I'm actually pretty happy about all of it - it'll be nice going down as a prior service student (meaning I won't have to abide by all the same rules as I did the first time I went through tech school). The only bad thing is that I was planning on moving out of my folks' place in July, and now that I'm leaving, it would probably be best to hold off until I get home. Figure, it'll save me two months rent, and plus, I'll have a lot more money to play with when I get home because TDYs (temporary duty, which is the status I'll be under) pay pretty well. My future roommate isn't going to be too happy about the whole thing, because it took me several months of indecisiveness to finally agree to get a place with him (was nervous about finances, being out on my own, etc)... but he's military too, so I'm pretty sure he'll at least understand.
Because I need to pass a PT (physical training) test before I can leave for tech school, I decided to go for a jog today. It was my first jog in over eight months, so after doing a little more than a lap around the block, my legs felt like jello. Granted, I just recently quit smoking, and I was keeping a pretty decent pace, so running a mile under the circumstances is not too shabby, especially for me - I'm certainly not the most athletic person to ever walk the earth. Anyway, the PT test is in June, and I'm going to need to run a mile and a half. So I figure, I'll try and go for a jog at least three or four times a week until then, and I should be ok.
Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it. |
