Posted in Why Am I sooo Pathetic? on 2008-05-20 19:37:16
isn't it frustrating how we involuntarily give people way too much credit? it's really too bad our feelings aren't more like a faucet, where you can just turn the water off when it starts to burn. i feel for you. stay strong.

in regards to what to tell patrick - i don't normally advocate lying, but since this is only a summer fling and there's no reason to hurt the poor boy's feelings... as long as there's no way he'd find out otherwise, i'd just tell him you were out with the girls. what he doesn't know will not hurt him, and if you tell him that you were with glenn, it'll just end up being a huge headache for the both of you. trust me, i've been where you are right now. just put his mind at ease. good luck!

lampoil -- you're absolutely right. i've recently taken steps to try and "detach" myself from him, and so far so good. thanks for the comment!

i feel your pain, honey - i'm 5'5 and about 30 lbs over my ideal weight. so i started working out again, and i feel really good about myself because of it. i went through basic training a couple years ago, and went from 150 to 135 in a matter of 5 weeks. granted, it was a stressful environment, so i imagine that added to the rapid weight loss, but the way it works is that we got 3 meals at the same time every day, and we worked out 6 days a week. i don't know how tight your schedule is, but if you could fit a half hour cardio in every day (i'd recommend a jog), i promise you, you'd start to see results pretty quick. i hope that helps, because i know what you're feeling, and i hope you feel better soon!

Posted in Is anybody teaching our girls how to act?? on 2008-05-14 06:18:59
i think discipline as a whole has gone wayyy downhill. i work in retail, and every day, i see a broad display of behavior that my parents NEVER would have tolerated at all, let alone out in public. when i was a kid, i would never have thought to act out in the stores, or cuss out a teacher, or anything like that because like you, i would have gotten my ass whupped. so i can sympathize with you completely - it's very sad to see what our society is coming to.

how insightful. i may have a simplistic view on the matter, but -- and while i don't particularly condone sex with animals because i think it's just plain gross -- as long as nobody is getting hurt in the process, i wouldn't be quick to judge someone with a "deviant" sexual desire. i mean, sex with kids is always bad, because by molesting a child, you're setting that kid up for years of therapy, sexual insecurity, and God-only-knows what else. but sex with a tree? have at it.

let God be your life... but also remember that you are HUMAN and that God has put us here to LIVE and EXPERIENCE as HUMANS do. it isn't Satan that's telling you you're alone. it's you. the more you grow as a person and come to terms with who you are inside, you'll stop feeding yourself such malevolence.

YOU sound like you're ridiculously mature for your age. i certainly didn't think as deeply and intensely as you do when i was 17. oh, and God doesn't hate gays. being bi/gay isn't any different than being tall or liking chocolate ice cream. we're all his children and he loves us all. i think the sooner you can come to terms with that, the more at peace you'll be.

oh, and don't get me wrong - there ARE some cool people to be met no matter what school you choose. my only point is, imagine having to LIVE with everyone in your high school... yea, the thought made me sick too.

Posted in Random on 2008-05-08 10:07:52
in my opinion, college isn't much better, especially if you live on campus. i mean, i suppose it depends on what school you go to - my best friend went to an all-girls school, and said she met some of the coolest people ever while she was there. but i'm a senior at a state college, and it seems like a lot of people there are still in the high school mentality. i would recommend you pick a school that's close (or pick one wherever and just get an aparment off campus) and commute. that way, you can decide just how often you want to be there. i did, and it was one of the best decisions i ever made.

i'm not a parent... but i'm curious - have you tried talking to the teacher about his behavior? does he act up and/or cry while he's at school? also, i don't know if this is within your budget or if your insurance would cover it, but what about seeing some kind of counselor or child psychologist? like i said, not a parent, but the slow behavior seems odd to me, and there has to be SOME reason for the crying. good luck - sounds like a tough situation, but you'll get through it some way, somehow.

most doctors recommend not doing it at all. here: http://www.4woman.gov/faq/douching.htm ... that should help.

this is in response to Long up there - 100% of women? so you're telling me that they've talked to every single woman that has ever had an abortion? ok, in all fairness, i realize that this study was done among a sample of women, but how big was the sample? could have been 5 women, for all we know. and where did you find these "studies" you speak of?

i would leave the "i've got feelings for you too" bit out, because then he'll go on thinking he still has a chance. i'd actually just tell him the truth, that you don't have the feelings for him that you thought you did. if he's mature, he'll respect you for it. it'll also prevent things from being drawn out, you know? best of luck.

Posted in Abortion on 2008-05-03 12:05:31
i have a very typical pro-choice view - it is only a "child" once it can live on its own. as long as the procedure takes place before that, abortion is fair game. in regards to people "using it as a form of birth control", does anyone even know of anyone that has done that? i know i don't. i know a few people that have had one abortion, but i've never known of anyone that has USED it for that purpose.
