 War Pass
A quick update on War Pass. It seems his owner is now saying that the colt had a fever prior to the Tampa Bay Derby which attributed to his poor showing. Now this would have been more relevant had it come out prior to his start in the race and one has to wonder if his connections are looking for excuses. Either way a horse this talented shouldn't have finished last agains the competition he was facing. Perhaps he is one of those horses that rise to the occasion because more than one talented horse has run a poor race then bounced back and looked spectacular in the next so time will tell.

Pyro has also recieved a bit of critisism lately due to his speed figures being in the 90's and I would agree that he is certainly capable of triple digit speed figures. However I wonder if the horse just hasn't reached his peak yet which would be a great thing. I'm hoping he doesn't peak in the derby but in the Belmont if he wins the Kentucky  Derby because a Triple Crown Champion would be a wonderful thing to see. We haven't had one since Affirmed did back in 1978 and this is the first time since the inception of the Triple Crown that we haven't had one alive. That ended when Seattle Slew died on May 2nd 2002.
