 The End Of An Era
I just got great news! My jerk manager, Julie, is quitting. Talk about making my life and job easier. Ever since she started, she has been difficult to work with. She has made many of my friends quit that job. Her quitting is a great source of happiness for me at the moment.

I might even try to get some of my friends to come back. That job was so much fun in the beginning, because I had so many cool people to work with. Lots of them quit because of Julie.

I feel kind of bad for her, although. You see, one of the members of the truck team, Justin (a buddy of mine), told her that he couldn’t work on Sundays because he was always sick. He has to go to dialysis on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week. By Sunday he hasn’t had a treatment in two days and he is sick, therefore he can’t work. Julie about crapped a rock. She called him into her office later that day, and tried to rip him apart with another manager, Nina (Nina was a bystander who had to watch all of the horror unfold). Justin told Julie that she would be hearing from his lawyer. She told him that he couldn’t talk to anyone at the store about this. He said that he was going to talk to his wife about it (he and his wife both work there). She told every single person that she could. The direct result being that every single person who knew about this little argument was going to hate her.

What could Julie do? She was going to have a job where she was looked at as the worst person in the world. She apologized later but the damage was all ready done. Everyone knows about it now. It’s like when there is a mistake in the paper; they may print the original story on the front page, but the retraction is on the eight. Very few people know about the apology, but everyone who works at Kohl’s knows all about how rude Julie was.

Her Last day is today, and I don’t even work. I tried to trade shifts with a few people, but everyone wants to work today. They all want to see the end of this era.

They only problem is we don’t have a new store manager yet, and will won’t for a while. When the last store manager quit, it took almost four months to get him replaced. Kohl’s sure works slowly, when it comes to a huge problem like this. I am worried that then when we get the new store manager; s/he won’t like me very much. I work really hard and I know what I am doing, but I only work a few days a week now, because of school. Like it says in The Art of War, (I am paraphrasing) “Better the enemy you know, rather than the one that you don’t.” I knew how to deal with Julie, I knew all about her quirks and what she looked for in people. I knew how to disarm her sarcasm from others. But now I am going to have to figure out someone new.

I don’t want to have someone new come in and change everything, just like when Julie joined the local Kohl’s team. It made for a horrible couple of weeks. I had to learn how she wanted to process returns, and I had to learn how she managed. Now I have to do all of this again. I am not looking forward to it.

But it is nice to have Julie gone. I think I will go and pick up my check when she is just about off of work. I at least want to see her leave for good
