| Quality and Variety of Coffee |
Having a good cup of coffee is among life's pleasures; up there with fine wine and quality cigars. Just like different parts of the world and different grapes produce different subtleties in wine or tobacco, the same is true for coffee beans as they create different blends and flavors.
While Arabica beans are typically more expensive, Robusta beans are less so, and many coffees blend the two types of beans together. By using the finer Arabica beans, you are more likely to enjoy a finer, yet richer aroma flavor as well as more body in your final cup of coffee.
The quality of the coffee is dependant on the proportions of the mix of these beans. Unfortunately, while you may read that the coffee is a blend of gourmet beans and "other" means, the fact of the matter is that oftentimes there is only but a trace of the higher quality gourmet beans in the mix.
Surprisingly, the best soil in which to grow coffee beans is those that come from volcanic areas. These areas have very rich soil that produce wonderful tasting gourmet coffee beans.
When striving for the best coffee, it is critical to always use the freshest beans available as age quickly diminishes the quality of the coffee bean. If you have any doubt of this, simply paste compared the difference between fresh roasted and fresh ground coffee from a local, quality coffee shop to that which he would find in your grocery store. Bear in mind that the supermarket coffees generally have a lower blend quality and in many cases the blends also have a proportion of older beans to reduce the production costs.
The only way you can be assured of quality and taste is to buy fresh gourmet quality. The only problem with this approach is that once you develop a taste for truly good coffee, you have a very difficult time ever going back to generic, commercial grade coffee.
There are many different regions in the world where coffee is grown and each has its own distinct flavor. One of my personal favorites comes from Puerto Rico. In fact, when it comes to coffee general merchandise Puerto Rico is among the best.
When true coffee experts tasted cup of coffee, often times they can tell you from what region of the world it came. Besides the soil in the region of the world, roasting and processing also play a huge role in the final product. So just because coffee comes from region X. or region Y doesn't automatically determine that it will be a quality coffee.
Coffee is one of the world's most popular beverages and more suppliers are catering to the needs of an ever-growing demand. This is among the reasons it has grown a lot as an export in the realmof Puerto Rico Merchandise.
