I'm a very heavy sleeper and last night the wind was so strong and so persistent I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.  The whole house was rattling.  My house is 100 years old and I live in the eaves, and my crazy old windows shook and rattled.  It was like the house was going to make like Dorothy's and fly through the air! 

The Midwest has the best storms.  I don't know what it is about both coasts, but maybe the ocean buffers them from crazy weather.  Anyway, I'm just north of Boston now, and this was the best weather event I've experienced outside the midwest.  Granted, I lived through a hurricane in Maryland a few years ago and 18 inches of snow in a couple days earlier this winter, and 18 inches in one day in Rhode Island a couple years ago.  But I love thunder and lightning and wind!  It's exhilarating!
