 Not Guilty in God's Eyes
"If you have ever wondered how God reacts when you fail, watch carefully.  He's writing.  He's leaving a message.  Not in the sand, but on the cross.  His message has two words:  not guilty."

                                                                                --Max Lucado
                                                                     3:16 Numbers of Hope

Why should we be afraid to stand before God and tell Him the truth:  I sinned against you.  God is not an angry God who shoots down fire and lava on a daily basis.  He doesn't kill people.  God doesn't cause cancer, He does't cause rape; God doesn't cause accidents or suicides or murders...Blame that on the devil and his whole fleet of demons.  They are the reason why sin is in the world today.

God doesn't cause these horrible things to happen...God is there to comfort us when we do.  Have you ever noticed after the death of someone, in the quiet when the crying has stopped and the depression has wore off, you feel this moment of peace...That's God sitting right next to you giving you a hug saying, "You are my child and I know you are going to be alright."

What a wonderful feeling!  So instead of blaming God for everything that goes wrong in our lives, why don't we ask God for help with our daily lives?  I am the first to admit, I need to do that more.  I pray when I can, I read and write when I can, but sometimes life just gets in the way...Guilty as charged.

But God doesn't charge us.  He throws away that title and gives us a new title:  not guilty.  And how do we become not guilty?  Look to the cross.  Jesus was crucified on that cross on Good Friday.  He rose again from the dead that Easter and conquered death for us.  We couldn't do it, but Jesus could.

So...we are forgiven; we are considered not guilty in God's eyes, but that doesn't mean we should go out and keep on sinning.  God gave us the reason to live in this world, why don't we give Him a reason to smile?  To say, "You know what LORD?  Thank you for making me not guilty in your eyes and to show you how thankful I am, I am going to try to live a life according to your purpose, not because I have to, but because I want you to smile."

If we believe that Jesus died for us, we already have a place in Heaven...No doubt about that.  But don't you want to go to Heaven knowing you lived to the best of your ability and tried your best not to sin even though you know you failed miserably?

I know when I die and leave this world, I am going to Heaven and even though I failed the LORD miserably when I lived here on earth, I'm going to stand before Him and He is going to be standing there proud with open arms because my slate is going to read "Not Guilty."

I hope and pray that when you go to the LORD and you ask Him for forgiveness or strength or courage or understanding or grace or whatever you need from Him...that you realize you don't have to be afraid or ashamed; He already sees you as "Not Guilty".

God's Blessings,

um.. i think their is plenty of suggestion in your so called scriptures that suggests god does punish sinners, is that what the whole catholic religion is based on, i love the way chritains pick and choose the bits of the bible they like and leave out the rest.

This is to anyone who shares the view of graph6682 and this would be good for everyone else you doesn't...

I am not Catholic I am WELS Evangelical Lutheran, and I am proud to say I am. (No disrespect intended to anyone who is Catholic or of any other religion). Everyone is intitaled to their own opinion. I gladly take any critisim or praise that comes my way. However--I don't merely "pick and choose bits of the bible and leave out the rest" as graph6682 so kindly commented about. I read the "big picture" and then write on a specific set of verses that pertain to the section as a whole.

I am sorry if you feel that christians are somehow guilty for doing that. Honestly, you are correct: the bible does speak of sinners being punished but if you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior who died for you so then you have a place with God in Heaven, than you are not being punished.

In many different places in the bible, the apostles describe a certain type of person who is punished in eternal damnation: they are called a hypocrite. And it goes deeper than just a person who tells you something then does the complete opposite. A hypocrite is someone who hears the Word of God, hears what God has done for them and still refuses to believe.

Now...I don't know what type of religion you are in or if you believe in God or not. But I will tell you this: We are all sinners and we all need a Savior to get through this world...I hope and pray that you read the Scriptures in its entirety and believe what is written to be true.

God's Blessings,
