Can't there be a good balance of both? What does tradition and conservatism mean in practical terms? I think doctrine is very subject to interpretation based on worldviews...I suggest the book "Reading the Bible through Third-World Eyes" very thought provoking

I'm not so sure about this...I think we're still in the melting pot phase of thinking in this country...you can "fit in" if you subscribe to dominant (Euro-centric) views, values, practices even if your skin color says otherwise, but that isn't exactly remaining what was and enhanced by those...
