this really made me thinkin hiding!!!
This was the second time i was hearing this..........that my short forms were difficult to understand, for earlier I had been the speaker of these words! From day1 since i entered net life,i had been the victim of short forms.
Well,yes you guessed it right,
i have never been a frequent sms user.Infact,i always used to take a few seconds to decipher the codes used by my friends!!!
And when i would be able to figure it out ,i would be like"oh!! why couldn't i get it!"
I agree if you dont know them ,its really hard to understand sometimes, but if you know them then, its faster to write
and  faster to understand
and saves time.Afteral the main motive is to express yourself and
communicate.
I learnt and tried to adapt all the short forms i liked, specially stuff like u instead of you & ur for your
n for and ,4 for for and 2 for to
d for the...it saves 2 entire letters!!!
well ,everyone doesnt have free sms service guys!!!
and similarly dere for there
dat for that
doz for those
U simply go by the pronounciation like wen for when & thats why u will find
wot ,wht,and wat for
what
depending upon the local pronounciation.

And i always use easier ones .I agree somewhere this sms language used by gen next(generation next) is going to make present english archaic but so had been thou and thee. But instead of being worried a prof of english had once written an article ,that this trend wud(would) help the youth to be innovative....lol(i had even taken time for this one).
And wasn't he true?....i had had lot of difficulty for figuring out y stands for why and recently saw vy for why,its really innovative...heheheheh
Some others like k for ok.or
hun for honey
tyk for talk ,f for of
are the ones you can't understand in a sec if you didnt know it earlier.
I dont use short forms like IDK....(i dont know.....)
or NM(never mind)....though i have no idea how many of you know these...
But i used OMG (oh my god) and BTW (by the way) as i saw everyone use them & had this idea that everyone other than me understands. In a way its amazing......u speak complete phrases in just 3 letters!!!!And in this present fast world, nobody has time...and when it comes to writing......it doesnt match the speed of thought for many of us!
Eating the vowels ....is something i guess can be understood...like
alwys or nly
for that matter.
But punctuation marks!! who cares for them? do we not understand dont means don't?We are not writing official letters which needs full english and entire words; sms ,chatting, and blogs are all informal and d motive is only to xpress n communicate.I agree that we get into a habit of doing it the easy way but,
I cant imagine leaving some short forms like r for
are,or u for you !!
The main point is i personally always lose my patience to read XXL blogs ,and if i dont use shrt frms in comments.....my god each one would b (be) a mini blog as i have so much to say!!!And i wonder how many of you would still read me.........hehehehhe
I only try 2(to) make my stuff a easier and faster read!!!

Yes I do agree, but I dont agree entirely either! Well, rules have been made for a reason right? And the reason is ultimately that everybody ought to understand what you are trying to express! And I do take longer to make sense of shortforms when I read. I dont mind using chatspeak when I chat since I know that it is just between two people and the other person knows what I am tryin to say. But if I am trying to express my views to a larger audience, I ought to use a language that everybody understands! And one does express himself better when he has a command over the language.

But yes, though I would advocate the use of correct english, I am not really a follower myself! [:)]
