It came in the mail
Like the plague from a rat.
I'm summoned to hell,
Well a courtroom in fact.
To serve as a juror
"My American Right"
But they wont let me go
No matter how hard I fight.
Lots of sitting and waiting,
Just 40 bucks a day.
Lots of yawning and reading,
Watch your day slip away.
The time is approaching,
Soon you'll be free...
"We'll see you tomorrow!"
Oh My God this can't be!
Day 2 at the courthouse
Armed with phone, food, Macbook.
This Wi-Fi is fast
Check email, blog, Facebook.
Boredom leads me to mischief
So at a porn site I look,
Then my battery dies
So I'm stuck with a book.
Like a child in school
Blankly stare at the clock.
Like Bobby and Whitney
As they melt down the rock.
Waiting and wishing...
Finally, they've set me free!
Now I've served my country
On Jury Duty.
