Gold is refined the same way. Only when it is heated sufficiently for the pure gold to sink to the bottom, and the impurities rise to the top, can these impurities be skimmed off. Those who rise to the top of humanity will also one day be skimmed off as the impurities they are. But not before the rest of humanity it heated up sufficiently.
