| Novel (undefined)- Chapter one |
Avangeline Todbrooks sat contemplating her next attack there had to be something she could do to keep Nadine from tearing her down tomorrow. It hadn't been her fault had it? Then again Ava as she was commonly called had called the police that cold snowy night. It had been for good purpose of course, Ava was no snitch. A boy had overdosed on the LSD that had been passed around on their adorable hello kitty blotters. Ava had never been one for drugs, therefore she was one of the only level headed teens at the party. She watched as the boy, Chris Rosswood, stole away with four or five tiny papers. It wasn't until around midnight that she noticed him collapsed on the floor. Right away her first instinct was to ignore it afraid she would risk her academic scholarship to Saint Lorelei's.
Alas she had been raised to well by her father to do this hereby making her whip out her cell phone and quickly call 911. No more then six minutes later she heard sirens peel down the street and heard the screech of tired and then suddenly the loud bang of the door being kicked in. Two annoyingly laughing girls started to scream and threw their beers off over the steps that they’d been standing on. Many of the kids tried to flee but the police dove into action as the paramedics scoured the scene to find the boy they’d been called to help. Ava looked up and yelled "Over here!"
Quickly they scooped the boy up onto a stretcher and rushed out the door. One man in a white uniform stayed with Ava to ask her some questions. "What's your name?" said the man
"Avageline Todbrooks." Said Ava.
"What did he take?” he said,” And do you know how much of it he had?"
" Ummm..." Ava stalled," I think he had acid...maybe like 4 pieces? I don't know who gave it to him though!?
"Okay, It's okay don't be nervous this is confidential information, no one will know you told us this information.” the man said," By the way my names Craig, call me craig if you would like to."
"So what is this kids name anyway?" said Craig
" Chris Rosswood." Ava said sheepishly. She was starting to feel weary from the nights events and just wanted to hop in her car and go home, but this man, Craig, didn't seem like he was going to let her go just yet.
“Sir, I’m very exhausted is there anyway I could just, maybe go home now?” Ava seemed to whisper.
“Unfortunately I’m going to have to keep you here a little longer, then you can go on your way.” Craig said in a chipper voice.
And so on the questioning went until Ava was nearly asleep in the seat she had eventually plopped down into about twenty minutes ago. Finally Craig stood up and said “I think we are done here Avangeline, thank you for your time!”
Nearly asleep Ava walked out to her car by now the party had cleared out except for the one or two stragglers explaining the situation to the police. These few shot dirty looks at Ava who barely noticed them. When she finally got to her car she dug into her pockets until she found her key. Jostling them until she choice the right key, that she hastily shoved into the ignition. After checking her mirrors she backed out of her spot in the driveway into the main road. Fifteen minutes later she slowed as she arrived at her home.
Unfortunately a silhouette, darkened the front window. With her car’s head lights on Ava could tell that this was none other then her father waiting up for her. They must have called him during that “privacy” speech that guy Craig had given her privacy my ass she thought. Haltingly she made her way out of the car to the front door he was waiting for her, and she knew trouble was to come. Opening the door cautiously Ava stepped in and just like that her father was there screaming at her at the top of his lungs! “You were supposed to be home by one! It’s now oh let’s see three forty six a.m.! Where the fuck were you? I don’t understand how hard it is to call you worried father if you are going to be late?”
“Dad, please just let me explain. I…I…didn’t mean too. At the party there was this kid on the floor he…he was in real bad shape dad! I …I had to help him, I called 911 they came and I had to answer questions and time just went by to quickly.” By now Ava was practically shaking as she said these words.
“Just …Just go to bed I can’t deal with this right now, Go to bed now! He screamed.
Ava scurried to her room diving under the covers for safety. In hope of getting at the very least three hours of sleep until seven o-clock when she would have to speed to get ready and get to school to make the 7:27 bell. What ever happened tomorrow she’d deal with tomorrow for now she would sleep. Unfortunately, Ava’s mind was overwhelmed by thoughts about what was happening to poor Chris. This was what keep her wired awake. A haunting feeling swept over her and all she really felt like doing was crying, but of course that wouldn’t do for the moment, Ava starting to feel the effects of a slight hangover quietly feel asleep.
