| My Statement of Beliefs |
What do I believe about the sovereignty of God? This is a fancy way of saying, “Do I believe that everything that happens is God’s will?”
Yes, I do believe that everything that happens is God’s will. Because if He created the universe, don’t you think that He knows why things are going to happen? Maybe it’s to test you. Maybe He wants you to come closer to Him. Now, I also believe that God does not make bad things happen, but He allows it. We may not always be clear of the reason why, but God knows. It is in His will.
What do I believe about salvation? Who can be saved? What happens if you sin? Is there anything that a saved person can do to reject his salvation, and thus not enter heaven?
I believe that if you “Knock, and it shall be given unto you. Seek, and ye shall find.” In other words, I believe that if you truly believe, and ask God to save you, He will. I believe that anyone can be saved. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall have everlasting lfie.” I believe that when you sin, you must confess to God and ask for forgiveness. Then he will cast it away “as far as the east is from the west.” No, I don’t believe that there is anything a saved person can do to reject his salvation. You can, however, grow so far away from God that you feel as if you are not saved, but NOTHING can take away your salvation.
What do I believe about ministry? What do I think ministry should be? How do I minister to others?
I believe that ministry is wonderful, and that we should try to minster every chance we have. I think that many times needs should be addressed before witnessing because who is going to listen to “Jesus loves you” when they’re starving? I minister to others by trying to help them when I have a chance.
What do I believe about life after death?
I believe that if you are saved and you die, you will go to heaven.
What do I believe about miracles? Is there a scientific explanation for Biblical miracles? Did God simply work through the intricacies of His creation to bring about amazing results, or did He divinely alter outomes to events? Do miracls still happen?
I believe miracles are real and are happening today. I believe that God really made these amazing things happen; it was not just some accident.
Do I believe that God speaks to His children today? Does He speak to me? How does He make Himself known to His people?
Yes, I do. He calls people to do certain things. He loves and comforts us. I think that a lot of the time, though, we refuse to listen. Yes, He does speak to me. He helps tell me what to read in the Bible that will help me. He tells me what is right and wrong. He talks to us through the Holy Spirit which tells us what to do, and what we should or shouldn’t do. He loves us very much.
