hmm.. i just realized it's probably incorrect to underline poetry titles. i think they're supposed to be in quotation marks, actually. oh well. i like underlining. here's some improperly formatted poetry for you.
peace,
annelise
truly, she was once trapped in a tower
once upon a time,
there was a pretty princess,
a girl that giggled with glee.
then her prince, he passed away,
and as a widow she wept for days.
the scar (proof that freeverse is not my forte)
the love never fully goes away.
it just dulls and fades.
and it was there from the start,
you just never realized it.
but when you noticed and fed that love,
it hit you like a baseball does a window.
it shattered you how amazing a person could be.
and to know that that person was yours, well, that was almost too wonderful to bear.
yes, he was a beautiful boy.
is.
but thanks to an error of your own ways,
you lost him.
a shard of glass from the window that was shattered lodged itself into your palm.
it hurt at first, but now the cut is healing and it will become a scar,
a scar that is dull and faded, but will never go away.
the sun is still bright, even when it’s behind clouds
the wind is a cloth of silk,
wrapping you in its cool embrace.
###
the lightning’s a candle,
leading you through the night.
###
the thunder may scare you,
but it’s the laugh of a giant.
you know deep down that everything‘s safe.
###
the raindrops are a song that you can’t help but dance to,
tapping your toes as it taps your cheeks.
spinning in circles with arms outstretched.
###
the clouds,
oh, but the clouds are an ominous shroud that steals the light from the sky.
###
behind them, though, the sun.
it’s still there,
patiently waiting for its child’s temper to pass,
still smiling even though you can’t see it.
