Morality in America, practicing Christianity throu
I find it funny that the majority of Americans are "Christians" and I ask myself, just how many of them trully practice the faith? I've always found it funny and very hypocritical when I hear or read a person saying, "I love Jesus," or "I'm a christian first and foremost" or something to that affect and then in the same breath our swearing like sailors who have been beached on Helios' island panting at forbidden cattle, all the while clutching a bottle of liquor in a club. How can one be so blatant in their sinning and then are crying in church. When people what faith one is most say a Christian. I always want to ask, "practicing or are you just saying that because your mommy's around" Another thing I consider a bold contradiction is the fear to say you're not a christian, but rather you have no faith at all and immeaditely "Christians" begin to pass judgement making claims of atheism. Pointing a finger and damning you and I always want to say, "and how close are you with god, do you speak to him daily? Are you completely and totally aware of the fact that you are right now as we speak passing judgement?" Another thing I hate our Christian fundamentalists or Evangicals or God's terrorists or whatever the hell they prefer to call themselves. They are the EPITOME of hipocracy and bold contradictions. For example GAY RIGHTS: boy they will talk your ear off on this subject about how they should have no rights they're sinners and they're going to hell. Last time I checked God does the damning. And what happened to God's command of loving everyone as your brother, they always tend to forget that little part. Just the words they have to say in general about anyone who doesn't fall under their category. When God comes down will you perish in fire? I surely think so because YOU have lost sight as to what being a Christian is about. Another annoyance is our stand on morality here in America, one minute were showing church on tv and the next minute we're glorifying fornication, greed, drug use and then you say the pledge and swear an oath under GOD!!! Does nobody else see the ridicuolousness in all of this. Where I stand religously is on the fence, I'm not a religous person, but I am a spiritual person and I'm no fanatic falling out in the middle of church pews or anything, but I'd like to believe that there is something bigger than us. It's hard to believe that something as intricate and diverse as the earth is merely a fluke. Now, if that being is the Christian god( which by the way people tend to not realize this but, Muslims, Jews, and Christians all worship the same god, there are just some descrepincies along the way) or something cosmic like aliens. I honestly could care less, It's just knowing that something or someone exists and I jsut hope there is because believing in a deity of some kind is all we have to give purpose to our lives. We all need a reason to live and for most that driving force is a belief in a God.

for me, it is quite simple. god is about love. there is but one universal love that we all share, no matter what your religion, gender, race or species. it all comes down to:

ONE LOVE

You have posed very good questions and contradictions that alot of christians cant answer for. I am a christian and while it is a daily battle for me, I try. There are many things about the christian 'faith' that frustrate me and the people that claim to practice it. As far as the Gay/Lesbian thing, the way i look at it is that I personally do not practice or agree with it, because the Bible does say it is an abomination to God, but I dont feel it is my place to judge them. I have friends and co-workers that are homosexual and i love them dearly; they are great people. I just believe that if it is Gods will, HE will judge them one day, i shouldnt worry about it. Another problem i personally have is how christians condem Muslims and Buddist (etc..) Yes it is wrong to worship an idol as some religions do, or have false gods.. but this is MY question, before christians pass judgment how many can say they stop their lives and pray 6 times a day to God? How many can say that they would sacrifice their own time and enjoyment for the one who created life? I think that before christians can judge (which is wrong in itself) another religion/denomination they need to do more self examination. You made some good points, i just hope more 'christians' realize these things as well

Some Christians have Jesus in their heart while others have Him in their mind. Each person is at a different level of growth in life and the same goes for the Christian. I agree some are unfortunately very selfrighteous and hypocritical. Love thy enemy. Forgive. Thou shall not judge. So many forget the core of Jesus's teachings, but alot do not. Christians relapse and backslide, but the true Christian works hard to change their ways, knowing they will backslide from time to time. It's kind of like relapsing when battling addictions or alcohol. Relapse is part of the process of growing towards the better. As for homosexuality that is between the individual and God. As a Christian, it is not up to me to judge for I am taught Jesus is our judge on judgement day. Same holds true for abortion. It's between God and the individual. I can't tell another what to do with their body. Good and bad comes in all shapes and sizes and in all walks of life. Where there is good, bad will be there too. You got good lawyers and bad lawyers, good doctors and bad doctors, and good Christians and bad Christians. There is the left wing, right wing, and the middle in politics. Same holds true for followers of faith. Guess I'm more liberal in my perspective on life. I leave the judging to the creator. Good post.
