Another Day
Today has been a pretty good day, I can't often say that because most days at work are horrible.  I have a new manager and have had for the last week.  So far so good, he responds to e mails and fixes problems as soon as he is made aware that there is a problem.  I'm looking forward to seeing how things go.  The moral for my team has been so low and I know that it has everything to do with the manager we had.  How can a manager expect his team to work hard for him if he cares nothing about them?  I just don't understand that at all.  I've been a manager before and my motto was "don't ask your employees to do what you aren't willing to do yourself".  My team always worked hard for me but I always made sure to work for them and on their behalf as well.

Home life is good.  Had a little falling out with Jeff the other day over picking up our son from school.  Our youngest is 14 years old and walks home from school every day other than the day he gets out late because he has a reading development class that he attends.  Jeff usually picks him up but he called and asked if he could walk home with some friends.  I asked if Jeff minded, he said no and then realized later that he agreed to allow this and then got mad at me for asking.  He made a big "to-do" about the whole thing and I couldn't believe that he freaked out the way he did.  I have asked myself several times since then where one is to draw the line between protecting their children and down right smothering them?  I worry about our children because Jeff will never allow them to learn independence and responsibility.  It's frustrating to say the least.  Hopefully I can make him see that.
