 Overpaid Jocks
When is enough,really enough ?
I find it hard that a person can get 20 million dollars to play for five years on a sports team.
It is just insane what these jocks are getting paid.
I remember the days when putting on a team sweater of any pro sports team was a proud momment. Now its just a business deal.
Loyality to that team has gone for the most part as well. It's been replaced by the team with the biggest paycheque.
And what has that done for the fans ?
When was the last time you were able to go a see your favorite team play ? What did it cost you ?
Case in point, when the Toronto Blue Jays played their very first game, I was there. I paid $23.00 for tickets behind home plate.
Ten years later those tickets would cost a great deal more then that.
A father wants to take his son to a Maple Leaf hockey game.
He buys the best seats he can get, perhaps at least $ 100.00 each.
The kid wants program, another $ 10.00.
They both need snacks so that could run about another $20-30.00.
If you take your car, the parking could be as much as ten to 20 dollars depending how close you wish to park. Oh yes, don't forget the little memento of the game.  That could run as much as 75 dollars if it's a sweater he wants. So do the math.
The average working guy can't afford to go unless someone gives him the tickets. Even with that all the other stuff really adds up.
So why are ticket prices so high ? Read the sports pages.
Its because the teams must find the money to pay these overpriced " jocks ".
I think that sports fans should stay away from these overpriced venues. With the money  they save but not going they could get every  channel out there and watch it in the cormfort of their own home.
Oh, I'm sure there will be some out there that will say its not the same but at those prices, it will do me just fine.
You need a sports fix, go watch the minor teams. Watch the young player bust their guts for a chance at becoming one of those overpaid jocks.
Better still go and watch the kids. They play the game for fun.
Gezz who would have thought that playing sports meant having fun ?
BTW, all those prices are based on the last time I went to a pro sports event. That was 15 years ago.
until I blog at you again, take care of yourselves and each other...templar

That is sad. Just glad it was only the jacket they took. You can always get another jacket.
