 Minor Sports
Have you ever wanted to go to see a "pro sport " of some sorts but were stopped from doing so because of the price of the tickets ?
How about if you wanted to take your kid(s) but didn't want to take out a second mortgage on your home to do it ?
I've been there.
When the Toronto Blue Jays entered the world of MLB, I went to about 15 games in each of the first 3 seasons .
Then I just stopped going.
The price of the tickets were just going through the roof and when you factor in the parking and munchies, since I took at least one of my sons and at times both, it was very easy to hit the $ 200.00 plus mark.
I kinda lost interest in going after that, not only baseball but football and hockey too.
The teams don't think of the ' working  guy " too much anymore. And in Toronto we had pro baseball, football, hockey, basketball and now soccer. So the average working guy even though he has lots of chooses as to where his " sporting dollars " go, he still can't go because of the cost.
So now when I need a sports fix, I go watch the minor league teams play and you know what ? I enjoy them just as much.
In these minor leagues, the kids are putting their heart and soul into the game, all for the love of the game.
They are all hoping to reach the " pros " someday and some will.
Their not worried about multi year contracts and getting paid a obscene amount of money. They play for the true love of the game .
And I don't have to sell the house to go to the games.
So I would urge you that the next time you feel like a sports fix, seek out your local minor league team. Go and support the " stars " of tomorrow because if you don't see them now, you won't be able to afford to see them if they turn pro other then on T.V.
so until I blog at you again,
take care of yourselves,
and each other.......templar

You're so right! Football tickets are especially expensive in England & Rugby is heading that way too.
Our sons have all joined local teams in either football or rugby, they benefit in playing themselves, sharing a common interest with their dad (I admit I'm a fair weather supporter!)& sometimes the clubs organise trips at reduced prices for a coach load to go & see a professional team, so it's a triple whammy.

Luckily I've never really had to worry about this one, the few times I've been to the footy or whatever, I've had my boyfriend's family take me, and they're members of the club and the tickets don't cost much for them :P Ahh, I'm a spoiled child in some ways. XD

tickets sky high here in UK, football too. Champions league final Man U v Chelsea and it was soo hard to get tickets as there were very high. Now when they are high, people turn to illeagal ticketing or the black market to get tickets. Like i saw in beijing. And in London 2012, the tickets are going to cost 20 pounds - just to try and cut the prices down
