The good old days.
You could leave your front door unlocked and never be bothered.
You could walk through a park late at night and not feel afraid.
There wasn't a group of teenagers hanging around the malls causing trouble.
A fun night when you were a teenager was hanging out at a friends place listening to music and just being " cool ".
A night out means your were down at the local burger joint drinking cokes, and checking out the chicks/guys.
If there was a fight, it was a one to one event and when it was over, it was over.
There was no "drive by " shootings at all.
Friday or Saturday night there was the dances.
Remember sneaking a bottle in trying to spike the punch ?
The girls with the hooped skirts and the guys with combs in their back pockets.
The " tough guys " had a pack of smokes in their sleeve of their tee shirt. That made them tough.
Saturday afternoons we went to the movies. We saw two, sometimes three full length features plus a cartoon or the next adventure of 'Batman, Zorro, or Lash LaRue."
Ticket prices were 50 cents and popcorn and a drink was 35 cents. You could have a fest for a buck or two.
If you have a car, you and your friends would cruise the local strip looking to pick up chicks or guys. Having a car back then meant you were one cool dude.
We would go to the local A& W for a burger and a root beer served in a frosted glass, delivered by a waitress on roller skates.
Its fun to look back from time to time to those days of our youth.
Life seemed so much simpler then.
